Glamourous 40th

And here it is.......the reason why my blog posts have been few and far between lately is due to my biggest job of the year.  I was fortunate enough to be asked to organise and style a 40th birthday for a gorgeous lady who wanted a glamourous event in her backyard for 70 close family and friends.

The invitations were created and sent out months in advance, funiture was chosen and booked and decorations were made or carefully chosen.

I managed to pick up some amazing peonies on the morning of the event at the Brisbane Flower Markets which really set off the rest of the colours.

I had so much fun putting this party together and couldn't of had a more relaxed and wonderful client to work with.  Thanks Lou & Pat for allowing me to take over your house for the day, I hope you had a wonderful night! x

Thank you to Roberta from Green and Bloom Flowers for the loan of the beautiful drinks dispenser which held homemade lemonade, Trina from Trina's Cakes and Cookies and my lovely friend Jo from Hausstylish for giving me a hand on the day to hang all the decor.

Beach Party Time

I'm thrilled to finally post up some photos and details of my son, Owen's 5th birthday party.  It was featured today on Amy Atlas's blog and you can view it here:

The kids had a ball sliding down a huge water slide and then chowing down on some fish n chips served in bamboo cones.  Thank you to my suppliers who provided some of the amazing details to make this party what it was!

Marquee Weddings

There's just something about a marquee wedding that makes me swooooonnnn.  I'm not talking your traditional marquee with a perfectly lined roof and walls but those that let the night stars in and the breeze softly travel through.  I adore the lighting options of loosely strung fairy lights and the odd paper lantern or grapevine for that casual yet elegant look.

A Hoot of a Baby Shower

A very special mummy to be, Yvonne, was treated to a sweet little baby shower today.  My sister and I designed everything from the invitations through to the take home gift and were inspired by Yvonne's love of Owls.  It was a gorgeous afternoon and even a thunderstorm hitting didn't spoil the fun and relaxing time that was had by 35 lovely ladies.  Now for the fun to begin and the countdown to little Baby H! xx

Flowers

I headed out for some retail therapy tonight after looking after my sick little boy for a week and ended up as usual, browsing through the bookshop.  Tonight however I was soooooo excited (cue understatement) when I spied the newest arrival to the shop sitting on the counter still wrapped in plastic.  I didn't have to persuade the shop assistant at all to unwrap it immediately and hand it over.  This stunning book by Preston Bailey (a long time idol of mine) is absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to order mine for Christmas!  The colours and details in this book are amazing, such inspiration.

If you have a love of events, weddings, flowers or just the finer details, you must must must purchase this book.  I'm off to order mine now!

Beach Chic

This wedding styled by Bellafare (my new icons!) is the most beautiful wedding i've seen.  It is styled perfectly without looking OTT and the relaxed beach setting has achieved a timeless and elegant wedding.  I adore the colours of seafoam and whites chosen and am amazed they found a stunning door to compliment their reception colour palette!  I will defintely be adding Florida on my 'destination America' travel list and can't wait to sip a cocktail at the Windsor in Vero Beach.

Come fly with me...............

So I've had a thing for sky lanterns ever since watching (wait for it....) Tangled with my boys!  Then I saw a documentary (actually it was the Bachelorette) on the sky lanterns in Taiwan and I'm hooked.  I've now put this on my bucket list and must get to the Lantern Festival in Taiwan or in Thailand one of these years.  Aren't they stunning!

Woodland Inspired 1st Birthday

My gorgeous friend's little girl had her 1st birthday last weekend so we set to work to create a little woodland inspired birthday.  Kel had sent out some very cute little invitations and wanted to base the colour palette around these.

I choose a cute latte and white polkadot tablecloth and paired it with splashes of red, green and blue.  Kel made the most devine cake and after so much praise from the guests, we decided that cake making may actually be in her past life.

All in all, it was a very sweet little birthday and little Lyla was totally fussed over which is how it should be on your first birthday.

Happy Birthday again Lyla Lou xx

Little Owl

I'm currently putting together a gorgeous little baby shower inspired by woodland owls.  I've chosen a red & white polkadot colour scheme to compliment the guest of honour who loves polkadots and baby owls as the central character to shine at the shower.

Samantha from Inspired Designs has created a wonderful invitation which will set the scene for the day.  A little snapshot image of my inspiration props will be posted later in the week but until then...here are some gorgeous little owl parties i've found.

Mary Poppins Magic

There are so many talented event stylists and designers out there but being a Brissie girl, I've always been a huge fan and follower of Sharnel from SDD.  So when I logged on tonight to her blog and saw her latest post on her daughter's birthday party, my jaw literally dropped in awe, envy and amazement!

Her latest styling of a Mary Poppins themed extravaganza (seriously some school fetes are smaller than this), is to die for and you'll certainly agree, AMAZING.

From the teacup ride to the glorious carousel dessert table, Sharnel has completely outdone herself with this event.  I'm utterly in love with the whole concept, thank you Sharnel for so much inspiration!
