Light up your life

Ok so lets talk lighting......as hubby is an Electrician, I should almost be a lighting expert myself.  Lighting is the key to everything.... events, photography, weddings, homes etc etc.  The ambience of an event (especially in the evening of course), just isn't the same without candles and soft lighting.  The mood of the event can be set depending on the choice of light and this plays a major part in the success of any event.

My personal favourite are candles, especially hurricane candles which can line the path for a wedding.

And of course Christmas lighting is such fun:

A lazy sunday brunch anyone?

And then of course paper lanterns are always such fun:

Pretty Pretty Pretty

I just adore weddings......i'm trying to convince my hubby that we should get married again (just to keep the romance alive you know)......I don't think he's convinced.  Don't get me wrong, we had a beautiful wedding......but I would do it all again just to use some of these gorgeous images:

Famille Summerbelle

I'm so amazed at how many creative people we have in this world.  I stumbled across Famille Summerbelle last year and have kept coming back to their prints every few months.  How I would love to put the family tree prints in the boys rooms and would love a Paris or London print in my living room. Their love bug prints would be gorgeous above the master bed and the learn for fun prints in the boys toyroom.  Ok so i'm getting carried away....but they are all so sweet don't you think?    I think its the colours that have me.....

Maybe when our little family goes on our long-awaited overseas trip, I can purchase these in Paris.......one to put on the list!

Inspiration

Don't you love inspiring stories?  I managed to steal an hour of tv last to watch 'Paper Giants - The birth of Cleo'.  It was fantastic, I loved it and can't wait to watch it again tonight.

On something completely different, i'm loving these gorgeous cups and saucers from Christina Re...perfect for Mothers Day (hint hint).

What a Star!

If you have a passion for photography, you would of certainly heard of Jasmine Star.  She is an amazing, talented American lady that has created a cult-like global following in the world of photography.  How has she managed to do this?  Through the likes of social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter.  Being a marketer in my past life, this really intrigues me as when the obsession with these online social outlets began, I was changing nappies and glued to Tizzy Hall's books (All new Mums can relate to this!).  I love the way that she is not just a photographer behind the lens but someone that has pushed the boundaries, really gets to know her clients and manages to capture both the romance of the wedding day and the natural beauty of each and every aspect in that photo plus she has managed to create such a strong brand image.  Good on you Jasmine.....you give me alot of inspiration when I read your blog and view your stunning work.

What an amazing bridal shower this was, I could only dream of planning something like this, amazing.....you can check out some more photos here

Mothers Day

A good friend of mine and myself are currently planning a Mothers Day function for our son's kindy.  We've chosen a gorgeous lemon and vanilla theme.  The invitations went out this week and have set the scene for a great first event of the year.  Some very talented Brisbane suppliers have kindly donated goods and services, thanks to those in advance (you know who you are and I will do a sing out to you after the event).  Stay tuned for some photos soon......

Have you also seen the gorgeous ones that Nora Walker from Brothers & Sisters has in her kitchen?

Can you see them by the window there....sigh

I may have to do some searching to locate some like these........

The Journey Begins.....

So here I am......a stay at home mummy in Brisbane who longs to live in the world of event styling and creation. I'm not sure if this blog will reach anyone out there in blogland but for now its a place to pour out all my ideas and loves of great events and parties.  I'm starting this blog to push myself really, i've been talking about doing something now for the last 10 years.......first it was wedding planning, then photography, childrens birthday planner, invitation stylist and finally event stylist.  Yes, i'm that much of a procrastinator, one of those students that always waited until the last night before completing assignments!

I hope to find myself during this blog.....maybe at the end I will be Senior Wedding planner on the next Royal Wedding...........................it's nice to have dreams isn't it!

For now, i'm content to plan events for my son's Kindy and for my upcoming sister's wedding.  Here's an inspiration board I created for her 'black and white' themed wedding:
