Island Blues

It's been warming up in Brisbane these last few weeks and summer seems just around the corner however I've been dreaming of here..............

As it's exactly where I'll be spending 6 glorious nights for my 10 year anniversary!  Ok so enough bragging, back to work...........................the gorgeous teal and blue shades of the ocean have been inspiring me to put together a little summer party.

I'm thinking of a lovely summers evening dinner under the stars with a few close friends...something like this would be nice...

However I would add a ton of tealights, more fairy lights in our huge trees we have and maybe some gorgeous blue bottles with little white blooms down the centre of the table.

I think some peach bellinis to begin with followed by some delicious seafood and pinot grio would go down quite nicely followed by some delicious lemon slices and creme brulee to finish.

Now to ensure the children don't interrupt us, I think I would have to set up something similar to this arrangement:

Now to begin the planning.................................

Green and White Sit Down Dinner

I have just arrived back from the Melbourne Gift Fair which was both exciting and inspiring, hence the lack of posts in the past few weeks!  I will post more about the gift fair over the next few days but wanted to share my latest event.  I created a sit down dinner for a gorgeous lady turning 40.  The only must was for the colour palette to contain shades of green.  I must say that I really enjoyed creating this concept and I especially discovered a passion for floral arranging which I hope to explore over the next year.

It was a lovely Brisbane winter's night, very intimate with a lot of laughter and chatter.  What more could you want for a memorable night.....

Picnic

I stumbled upon this fantastic company 'Sydney Picnic Company' which has taken the humble picnic and turned it into a gorgeous affair complete with all the little trinkets needed to have a divine picnic excursion.

It's been so cold these last few days that just thinking about a summers picnic at the beach or under a leafy tree is just what I need!

Now....just to find someone similar offering this in Brisbane!

FD2 Launch Party for Charity

I have become involved in planning a Launch Party for Fitness Done Different happening next weekend, Saturday 23rd June.  This event is being held to support an amazing charity, The MND and Me Foundation.  If you haven't heard about Scott Sullivan's story, you really must take a moment out of your life to read about this incredible man.  Please come along, bring the kids and support a fantastic day!

Black & White 40th

This week has been extremely busy for me with two events in one week.  However, I have enjoyed every minute of it and have now proved to myself that I'm completely ready to launch into a full-time business next year, which is quite exciting!

Here are some pictures from my latest event held last night.  Thanks to the lovely couple that hired me for Jamie's big 40 - cheers to you Bec & Jamie, I hope you had a fabulous night!

A couple of shout outs to all my suppliers for this event including Neal's Hire (Marquee - thanks Annabel), 247 Theming (Furniture - Thanks Pete!), Moreton Hire and Moonlight and Whimsy (Thanks Meg) for all the fantastic light strings and lanterns.

A big mention to Steph for her help on setup day and to my lovely compardre Kel (Bowie and Willow Images) for taking some lovely images on the night.

Mummy's Day!

(source: my little jedi)

It's that time of year again when our cute as a button children wake us up early to shower us with homemade presents and little scribbled cards (and maybe even a coffee that makes you wonder where they actually got it from!).

As much as I love to put on an event and style every single detail, wouldn't it be nice to wake up in the morning and find this little setup in your backyard............................we can all dream can't we....!!??

(source: my little jedi)

This Mothers Day i will be sharing it with my youngest son who is turning 4.  I have to admit that I don't mind him 'stealing my thunder' this year as he's just so adorable and being the youngest is very very excited about this birthday.  Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful Mummy's out there! x

Event Spaces

I've been thinking about 'event spaces' alot lately and recently attended an event for an ultra hip friend of mine for her 30th.  They transformed their business warehouse into a sleek and modern party venue for the night complete with blue spot lighting and hanging white lanterns - very cool.

This got me thinking that any venue can be turned into something special.  There are some brilliant purpose built event venues around like 'Lightspace' that I stumbled upon and found its in the same town as me!

Can't you just picture a gorgeous wedding reception or funky 21st in this space!  I must must must plan an event at this venue as the opportunities to create something amazing here are endless!

Even though i'm now ranting about this venue (please contact me if you have a sudden urge to hold an event here!), a lovely backyard party or simple park brunch can be just as special and with those individual touches, can create memories for that special guest.

Liebster Blog Award

So my lovely friend Jo from Haus-stylish was recently awarded the Liebster Blog award for blogs with under 200 followers and has so kindly passed this award onto my little blog.  Thank you Jo!  I'm not sure if there may of been an underlying reason to get me inspired to post (as i've been rather slack so this worked!) or because we joined this blog world together (with another good friend Kel from Gone to Yoga) and value what each other does.

It's been an interesting start to 2012 for my little event business with a few smaller events and a larger one still to come in the very near future!  I'm feeling very excited about what my small event company could become by the end of next year (yes i have a 2yr plan to get this baby launched) and am so lucky to have some fabulous people around me to help me achieve this dream.

Now the conditions of this little award are that I must post my 5 favourite blogs with under 200 followers....

These 5 bloggers then must follow the below conditions:

* Copy and Paste the Award on your Blog

* Link back to the Blogger who gave you the Award

* Pick your 5 favourite Bloggers with under 200 followers who you think deserve to be recognised and leave a comment on their Blog letting them know they have won the Award

* And hope the 5 chosen Bloggers will continue to share the Blog Award love.

So here we go..................................

Instagram Inspiration

I've been inspired by a good friend of mine who has taken on a little happiness project by taking photos each day to be more aware of daily life and to capture each moment.  It's the little things that mean so much so I just had to post some latest pics (of course they are instagramed) of my 2 gorgeous boys who continue to suprise and amaze me each day...love you both to bits.

Directions

I'm back....... and with full anticipation and excitement for the year ahead.  I have been making some major decisions over the last few months (hence the non-posting) as to whether I pursue the events business, tackle some more study (I can hear my husband groaning already) or be satisfied with my stay-at-home mummy status for awhile longer.

The verdict.....I'm taking on some big event styling jobs this year and I'm also considering launching a little wedding and events hire company which will support my styling business.  I'm so very excited about it and hope you'll continue on my journey with me.  My first big event of the year is my sister's wedding which is next weekend.  My little addition to the reception is the planning and organisation of a lolly buffet.  It will be a display of black and white sweets and i've enjoyed putting it together so much that I will offer this option to my future clients.

Whatever you are doing this year......i hope you embrace it and enjoy every minute of this precious life.
